Part 2: Now moving from the negative to the positive   4th “older women” are to be known for “teaching what is good.” Comes from one Greek word meaning “teachers of good.” The Greek word refers to teaching that which is noble and excellent. Having taught their own children well, older women are given the responsibility for teaching younger women in the church.       Thoughts on Challenging us to be Titus 2 Women By Bill Reeves Recently I listened to one of the best and most challenging teachings I have ever heard on Titus 2. This sermon was given in 2008. I was reminded of it as I’ve been writing on homemaking skills taught by older women. I decided to republish the series because I forget and need The post Thoughts on Challenging us to be Titus 2 Women Part 1 appeared first on phyllis-sather.com.

Making the Most of Homemaking Tips shared by Older Titus 2 Women No, I never had to clean a stove like this. However, I did grow up without hot running water. My Dad always said we had running water – we just had to run to the well and pumped it! We had a wood stove in the kitchen that had a reservoir for water. This is the second article about homemaking tips I’ve learned from older women. You’ll find the first here.   This is a cleaning tip I learned way before I was a Christian and even knew that the older ladies should be teaching the younger ladies. I’m grateful I had the good sense to listen and learn.       I grew up in the era of Leave it to Beaver. June Cleaver was always in a dress, with a cute apron. She did her housework in shoes with heels and we thought nothing about it. Not that we did our housework like that, but most women and young girls did wear dresses, especially if they were going to have guests, or be seen The post Making the Most of Homemaking Tips Shared by Older Titus 2 Women Part 1 appeared first on phyllis-sather.com.

  • How Are You Going to Celebrate Pi Day?
I never used to celebrate Pi day. Why? Because I couldn’t make a pie crust. Sad, huh? When I was forced to for holidays I used pie crusts I purchased in the freezer section and they tasted a bit like cardboard. Then my husband bought me Cooking From Quilt Country by Marcia Adams and one of her recipes changed my pie baking forever.   Pat-In-Pan Pie The post How Are You Going to Celebrate Pi Day? appeared first on phyllis-sather.com.

My type A personality lends itself easily to being a Martha much easier than a Mary. “But Martha was distracted with much serving. Tell her then to help me.” Luke 10:40  This year instead of a word or verse I’ve asked the Lord The post Does It Work To Be a Mary If You Really Are a Martha? appeared first on phyllis-sather.com.

When I’m sick I want comfort food. I’ve been down with a number of issues for about three weeks. My body won’t do much physical work. My fuzzy mind can’t think through anything very complicated. So I’ve found myself doing one of my favorite things – browsing through recipes. Thankfully I have two adult daughters who work from home and I can often pull them The post When You’re Sick Do You Want Comfort Food? appeared first on phyllis-sather.com.

How did you spend New Year’s Eve?   We decided to mix it up a bit and do something different. At 8:30 AM Dan drove himself (I was along) to the emergency room. Surprise! • How To Cultivate the Habit of Saying Only Good Things
Over the holidays you will no doubt have opportunities to talk with people who don’t have the same opinion as you do, or just rub you the wrong way, or are difficult for you to be around. Another thing that happens is there is a lot of opportunity for small talk. Both of these situations can give us opportunities to say things we shouldn’t.
